Some sport in Nelson
We take the Queen Charlotte Drive from Picton to Havelock which offers us some awesome views on the sounds. Once in Havelock we taste the dish which makes this town’s reputation : Green shell mussels accompained of course by a glass of delicious Sauvigon Blanc. After this culinary pause, we hit the road again direction Nelson. We first stop in a very nice open air museum reconstituing the life of Nelson’s people in the old days. Then we go to the i site and book some rock climbing and sailing for the next day. We find a nice lookout for a romantic picnic with a view on the sea and rocks. We start the following day with our first real rock climbing experience. We are only the two of us accompained by 2 monitors, that’s what we call a private course ! They bring us to a secluded bay with one big rock that we will climb 5 times at different places and nivels of diffculty. First, the warming up, we are good, then a bit more challenging climb, then another more challenging one but fitting our nivel, then an impossible climb and finally we give another try at the one that we consider as our nivel. As we had no camera with us, one of the monitor took some pictures of us with his mobile phone and then sent them to Charles by Bluetooth, After the effort, we decide we deserve a good, fat, juicy Burger King. Just the time to digest and we go to the harbour and hop on a catamaran with wich we will follow tonight’s sailing race. It’s very impressive to see those sailing boats lean over and almost turn over.
