My cousin Deb's daughter, Caitlin, and her friend, Grace, share my sister Carol's passion for horses. My sister has lived in Montana for quite some time and frequently rides the many trails around her area. When Caitlin heard this, she decided that this was something she really wanted to do. It took a few years for all the circumstances to be right, but this year it finally all came together.
I flew in from San Jose, Deb, my other cousin Cheryl, Caitlin and Grace drove up from the Palm Springs area, all converging on my sister's place near Big Timber.
From Big Timber we traveled a couple hours to a spot in the Gallatin National Forest for three days of camping and exploring the three trails that originate from that spot. Carol, Caitlin, Grace and Buck, a friend of Carol's, were on horseback and the rest of us on foot. Unlike my sister, I'm not particularly fond of horses. But that's another story!
Technical Note: From a previous project I had done, my camera was set up for taking pictures under florescent lighting. Unfortunately, I neglected to reset these settings until after taking about 90% of these pictures. As a result a considerable amount of adjustments were necessary to correct a really nasty blue colorcast. So I guess the disclaimer is that if some of the photos seem a bit off color-wise that's why. Lesson learned? After changing settings for special situations ALWAYS reset your camera to your default settings immediately when done!
