My red-eye from San Francisco was better than the last one. I feel like I got at least an hour of sleep between San Francisco and Boston, and woke up somewhat refreshed.

After getting some breakfast, I immediately hit the Boston "T" blue line towards Kendall/MIT. I walked through MIT campus a bit, but it was understandably completely dead at 6:00AM. I walked over the Massachusetts avenue bridge, catching some outstanding views of the Boston skyline at sunrise, and continued until I hit Berkeley College of Music. There wasn't much to see there, so I got back on the T and went straight for Harvard Square, a historical important square to Boston and academia. I found a Peet's coffee there with free wifi and was able to get some work done and consume my required caffeine intake.

A few hours later I met up with my friends Nick and Amanda who live in Brookline and who have graciously offered for me to stay at their place. We ended up going back downtown and visited the New England Acquarium with a great penguin exhibit and many other marine animals.

After the aquarium, Nick and I went to the Boston's North End to visit Mike's Pasteries to get a chocolate chip cannoli, then continued to walk a bit through downtown Boston and eventually over the bridge to Cambridge.

Tired out from a long day of walking, we took the T back to Brookline where we had dinner and a few beers at "American Craft".

Excellent penguin exhibit; lots of marine animals. One of the best aquariums I have been to.

Great selection of craft beer; my crab cake sandwich was great. They take their "mixed greens" extremely seriously..

Dirty compared to many other transit systems I've been on, but I'd consider it at least better than New York's subway. Quick and easy to get around to almost anywhere you want to in Boston.

Today I went to work with Nick to the Thoughtbot, a premier Ruby on Rails consultancy in downtown Boston. I got quite a bit of work done, then Nick and I had dinner at a nearby Irish pub. I got back to the airport just in time for my late night flight to Seattle. The timing of the flight was great - I caught about half of the US Open final match on JetBlue's in-seat Direct TV. I ended up staying at a hotel near the airport in Seattle, ready to explore the city after doing some work on Tuesday.
