Meet Emma. She graduated from Bates College and majored in French. Her facebook is even in French. She played lacrosse which was totally obvious by the mid level socks she wears to build days; a total lacrosse style. She plans to work at a non profit in DC that combines her two passions of photography and French. When we stayed at a Quaker school she told us she was a Quaker and revealed the fascinating nature of the religion.

I've had better days cycling than today. I woke up at 545 to make pancakes from scratch. The girl who provided us with the recipe is very nice, but the recipe was busted. The pancakes were dense and tasted like pierogi pastry. What an awful day of cycling. It was only bad because of someone writing a wrong chalk mark that led my group astray. We didn't figure it out until we went 5 miles so we ended up cycling an extra ten miles total and got to lunch very late. I was less than happy and tried to hunt down the person who made the stray chalk mark but no one would fess up. It got hot fast. I saw a banks digital thermometer that said 90 degrees but others saw one that said 93 and even 102. Sweat was flowing off me like Niagra Falls. Tomorrow we attack Mt. Pocono which is supposed to be the worst day of the trip as far as difficult mountainous rides go. I'm calling it an early night to rest my body for the challenge ahead.
