So this week I'm on dinner crew and we had the pleasure of using the camp stove and a camp fire to cook. We made baked potatoes by rolling them in tin foil and putting them in hot coals for 2 hours. I topped that with sour cream and then chili that had some sweet spices, tomatoes, corn, and 5 kinds of beans. Throw some cheese on the top and you have yourself a delicious meal. Unfortunately clean up extremely difficult especially since it was in the dark.

We spent considerable time tonight in a circle with each chore group presenting the 2 grant applications they were in charge of mastering. Affordable housing agencies like habitat for humanity and rebuilding together apply for up to $10,000 to fund special projects. We as a group have up to $18,000 to allocate so we get to chat and vote on who gets what. Voting will happen on Wednesday.

Seligman is the town that radiator springs in the movie Cars is based on. It's obvious why because the town is on rt. 66 but has obviously fallen off sixes I-40 moved in right next door. At best, the town consists of a campground, railroad, and a bunch of trailers. There is a population of 500 and change with a high school of 47. Today was only a 40 mile ride, so it went really fast. Wake up was at 6am. We always get 90 minutes to pack our stuff up, eat, and get ready for the day. I don't know what could possibly take people so long, but I need about half that, ten minutes of which are spent waiting for the bathroom. I guess now that I'm on dinner crew and I don't have a morning chore, that freed up a lot of time. Even with folding all of my almost dry laundry this morning and totally repacking my bin, I had way too much extra time. I ate French toast and fruit, filled up my water, pumped my times and then took a half hour nap before we left. After our route meeting and team cheer that involves less people and energy everyday, I took off. A lot of people went to a cafe for coffee and spent hours there. I opted for fast cycling and got into town two hours later at 930 after no breaks and a 20.2 average speed. That wasn't really a big deal because it was mostly downhill. We were routed on interstate 40 for 23 miles which was tricky with high truck volume and hazardous breakdown lanes. When I arrived at the KOA in Seligman, I relaxed in the shade then rocked on a cabins porch swing for a while blogging. Life got a lot more strenuous after that as I relaxed pool side for an additional 2 hours. In the middle of nowhere, the only thing to do is relax, and I have no problem with that.

Pin up calendar

We have been in the process of making a bike and build pin up calendar and getting certain risqué shots along the way. Tonight we had group pictures around the campsite. I don't want to give any secrets away before the final product is revealed, but the shock value will certainly be high.
