We woke up to a beautiful morning. We had a "short" day of driving, so we decided to look around a little before leaving. We drove a back road from Tyhee Lake campground back into Smithers. It was a beautiful drive. Green rolling hills dotted with farm houses with the mountains in the distance. I am so glad we did that!

Once back in town, we found the coffee that was supposed to have wi-fi...only if you want to pay for it. We are so cheap we get our cappuccinos and muffins to go, and go back to the visitor's center and connect to their free wi-fi while enjoying our coffee in the 4-runner! :)

On the way out of town we stop at Twin Falls to check them out and stretch our legs a bit. We expected only a short "nature trail" but discovered there was a trail to the top of the falls. You know us...they billed the hike as a 4 hour up and back hike. Certainly we could do it in two. So, up the canyon we go...straight up a loose, rocky, poorly built trail. It made me miss our hikes up Cerro Alto. :). We made it up about 3/4 of the way before calling it a day. To get to the end you had to traverse a steep snow field. Don had mercy on me and didn't make me "conquer my fears". We enjoyed the fantastic views of the valley below before going back down. And at the bottom the "nature trail" awaited us to go see the bottom of the falls. It felt so good to do some hiking after spending so many days sitting in the car!!!

It was a beautiful day for driving. More green vegetation and lots of trees. We were driving at elevations of less than 1000', and surrounded by mountains of over 9000'. We followed different rivers for much of the day. The scenery is just wonderful!

We finally arrived in Prince Rupert. Nothing to write home about. It is a smelly, run down port town. The "campground" is right in town, a grassy parking lot thing. We are here because it is very close to the ferry terminal so that is ok.

It was sunny yesterday in PR. They average only about 90 sunny days a year. Today has been pretty sunny also!!! We have brought Calif. weather to PR!!

We were up until almost midnight last night...it was still light outside. Weird.

Today we have been exploring our surroundings and having a good time. I talked Don into going through a salmon cannery museum. Our guide was a young college gal from Toranto, spending her summer working at this museum. She was really fun. We had a good time. Well worth the entrance fee!

Hopefully we can get to bed early tonight. We have to be at the ferry terminal by 5 in the morning...then Ketchikan here we come!!!

"To Thee I lift my eyes, O Thou who art enthroned in the heavens! Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress; So our eyes look to the LORD our God. Psalm 123:1,2
