Small but nice. It was free for staying at the hostel and came with a guide. Worth stopping in if you stay in Kabale for any reason.

Horizon Bus Company

This bus left 1 hour late which sucked. It was nicer than most other buses but took 8 hours once we got going. We should have left earlier I guess. All buses out to this side of Uganda are painful so I'm not sure how to avoid some degree of saltiness.

The road to the west side of Uganda from Kampala is decent. A rented car or special hire would take about 4-5 hours. But the bus system to get there is really annoying: you stop 15-20 times getting there and always leave late. Buget 9 hours from when the bus is supposed to leave to when you'll be in Kabale.

This hostel was really cool. It's $2.50 per night in the dorm and offers a museum (see below), good food (legit coffee and giant samosas) and a nice open air chill spot on the roof.
There is no sheet changing based on what we saw in the morning. But hey...$2.50 per night!

There's no reason to come to Kabale. We got stuck here because the bus from Kampala was so long. We intended to just go directly to Lake Bunyonyi.

Really good coffee!!!!!!! Pizza was ok. Beef burger was gross and tasted like break crumbs. If you eat here just get coffee and Indian food. The giant samosas were DA BOMB.

I took this bus on the way back from Kabale to Kampala. It was absolutely horrible!!!
After you get up to Kabale from Lake Bunyonyi there will be usually 1 bus at a time waiting to load up and head east. This just so happened to be the company waiting when we left. They overcharged us ($10 but it's only a $6 bus at most) and once I got on I realized it was the lowest quality bus available. It was super dirty, stopped every 5 minutes to cram more people in (people were standing, sitting and lying on the floor) and it smelled like absolute shit. The icing on the cake was that in the seat behind me there were two little kids puking the entire trip. If you see this company waiting, just wait and take the next available!!!

In response to all the negative bus talk below: Star bus company was taken by friends of mine and it sounded really nice. It only stopped in Mbarara and then Kampala and was roomy.
