Lake Manyara National Park is a nice stop over on your way to the Serengeti from Central Tanzania. It's a one day ordeal and really offers a lot. Tons of baboons, hippos, giraffe, elephant, buffalo and the beautiful lake. It is much smaller than other NPs (about 320 km^2 but 220 km^2 is lake) so be prepared to run into other tourists while inside the park. This aspect was really no big deal but I wasn't expecting it.
Each safari company gives you a strikingly similar packed lunch: juice box, hard boiled egg, peice of fried chicken, candy bar, muffin and banana. It's actually decent and a big portion.
This is a National Park that only requires about 6 hours of safari. No need to overnight.
A must for any sarfari. The coolest part of the trip is when the animals are really close but you see a fair number of worth-wild things in the distance as well.
I was scared shitess when the elephants came directly up to our car (see photos). They act like they don't even see you....weird.
David hasn't added anything yet. Check back soon!
