This place is surreal. It's just a huge hole in the ground from a collapsed volcano where thousands of animals just decided to habitat. Even zebra and wildabeest are resident here even though just miles west in the Serengeti they migrate hundreds of miles each year looking for water.
If you get a chance you should spend at least 1 night camped out here. The site is above the crater on the southern edge and has an amazing view of the crater within it. Also, elephants come and drink the campsite's water (see photos) which was amazing.
We arrived here from the Serengeti in the late afternoon and drove directly to the campsite. The view was great, elephants came and drank our water and we ate a nice meal in the campsite dining area.
The next morning we went on safari from about 7 am to 4 pm. The crater is bustling with animals and has a natural lake and waterfall. This was one of the best places to see animals and great scenary.
