Arrived in Lisbon, Portugal today. Very vibrant city that ranks among the top cities visited in Europe, due to it's moderate climate, history, and low crime rate. Lisbon is said to be older than that of more common European cities such as London, Paris, and even Rome!
To any of you thinking of traveling to Portugal, I would highly recommend the Algarve coast region. While Lisbon is a great city and worth exploring for a few days, the southern coast has sleepy beach towns, sandy beaches, and amazing views. Refrain from the large mecca, all inclusive resorts, but rather, rent a car and get lost driving from the beach town of Lagos to the far tip of Sagres, and then just a few kilometers up north to some of the surfing towns north of Sagres. Salema, Portugal was my small hub village and was within a 30 minute drive of all the secluded beaches I described.
