Maputo, Mozambique

Eventually arrived and Sandra's university friend, Carla, met us at the ariport and took us back to her place. Carla has been in Mozambique for several years now and also recently got married to husband, Ali, and is the proud mother of six month old Said. Sandra and I offerred to baby sit tonight so that Carla and Ali could go out for dinner. We had a quiet night in and reheated some spaghetti before going to bed to sleep well.

Wow, we are in Africa now I can hardly believe it myself! After a slow start we did a little sight seeing around Maputo including taking in the Fortress and train station before meeting Carla at the French Cultural Centre for a late lunch.

In the evening we ate dinner at home with Carla and Ali which was great and a good chance to get to know each other a bit better. Tomorrow we will drive up the coast in Carla's four wheel drive to the beachside village of Tofo.
