We checked out at 10am from Fawlty Towers and took the free shuttle to the falls. From there were proceded on foot through the Zambian border post across the Victoria Falls Bridge and on to the Zimbabw border post. It is not a long way really but it was the heat of the day and we were fully laden with backpacks and were quickly hot and exhausted.

We made it to the Vic Falls Rest Camp & Lodges by 11.30am and located the Intrepid bus and began to meet the people we will be travelling with for the next 21 days. The group is only 12 people which was a pleasant surprise as we were expecting as many as 21. The group comprises two young English guys (Harry and Ben), a kiwi couple (Blair and Rachelle), a Brisbane woman (Shannon), and two english women (Angela and Lisa) plus two German guys (Rene and Konstantine) and finally another Aussie, Steve, from Sydney.

Back at the camp in the afternoon we enjoyed some time around the pool before our welcome to Intrepid meeting at 5pm In the evening a good share of the Intrepid group got together and ventured to Ilala Lodge for dinner. Wow this place was fancier than we expected but was a nice way to start the trip. Enjoyed my first game meat of the trip too: Warthog fillet - excellent.

Started the day with breakfast at the In Da Belly restaurant at Vic Falls Rest Camp and then we jumped onto the truck for a quick drive down to Vic Falls. Today we will check out the view from the Zimbabwean side. The view is in fact quite different from here and the full width of the falls is much more visible. There is still so much spray that we both got drenched but we were better prepared this time. After the falls Sandra, Steve and I take the walking track back towards town and to our astonishment there is a bloody huge elephant hidden mostly by trees but only about 10 metres away...bit of a worry as they are wild and feels quite unsafe to be on foot! On the way back to the camp we take a detour via the palacial Victoria Falls Hotel and enjoy a coffee on the balcony overlooking beautifully kept lawns with a stunning view to the Vic Falls Bridge.

After dinner we head to Hunters Bar briefly but not a late one for us.
