It's about the eagles, when all is said and done! You can see an eagle hanging out on a dead branch from the living room of the Campbell's house on Camano, we saw several hanging in a field with trumpeter swans, and would find them swooping hither and yon while driving around. The nests, visible in the leafless trees are huge. Nice to know these majestic birds are, apparently, thriving here.
One late morning and afternoon we went on a lovely drive along Chuckanut Drive, a winding road along the mainland shore south of Bellingham. Constructed at one point by convict labor, it meanders through forests with terrific views of the water. There are even fossils near an overlook. At mile 11 or so is Oyster Creek where we ate lunch at the Oyster Creek Inn and got fresh clams at the nearby Taylor Shellfish Farm. The linguini and clams we made that night were as good as one could imagine!! Enroute to the house, we drove past HUGE fields of daffodils. Tulips were a week or so away from blossoming.
Jerry and Katie have made the Camano house the most relaxing place to stay. Enhanced views from the living room with the glass porch rails, the new enclosed room upstairs, and the easy "hang around-ability." We loved it! Jaye did good runs, too.

The oyster stew was phemomenal, as was the fried oyster sandwich. Get a bottle of wine...fun to drink and look down on the moss covered trees along Oyster Creek!
