Random - Trafalgar has to pay over $200 euros to bring our bus into Florence. Wow (plus we have to pay a hotel tax per person per hotel star)

We'll be taking this tour in early September. I am loving reading about it, your experiences & your perceptions. Thanks!
Our hotel has no free wifi so it'll just be a quick update about Venice and then I'll add Florence info as soon as we get better internet access.

Florence is stunning. The art, sculptures, and building just amazed me. I absolutely loved walking the tiny streets and exploring the piazzas.
One highlight was finding time to cross the Ponte Vecchio and coming across the Palazzo Pitti, the palace of the Medici family. It was nothing that I expected. It was a huge stone fortress with no adornments beyond several coat of arms. I was able to sneak a peak into the courtyard and gardens where the real beauty lies.
After that we did a walking tour from Santa Croce to the Government Square then over to the Duomo. I have been fascinated by the construction of the Duomo for years so to see it in person finally was so astounding.
After the tour we popped into a little cafe for a quick piece of pizza, cold water, and some lovely ac (with a honey drizzled apple croissant for dessert).
Then onto Rome...
