I love the civil wars! Great music for the all truck lane!

Kasey and I got off to a late start this morning getting out of Boston around 10:00 am (after planning to leave at 9:00...). But all was well as we began the trip with a visit to the Dunkin' Donuts around the corner from Kasey's apartment. The first of 3 iced coffees today, we chugged and buzzed all day! Making our way through Connecticut was slow and painful, as per usual, but we had a slight respite when we stopped in Danbury to visit and snack with Vinny Mraz. Back in the car around 3:00 pm, we were through New York before we knew it and into New York, only a few hours from PA! We got in around 7:30 pm and were greeted by the loving and welcoming Alli Bizon and Dan Pattley for the second time in a year! We went to the Philadelphia South Street Diner (not to be confused with Boston's) and followed it up with frozen custard from Rita's! After walking down to the Delaware River and back through Alli and Dan's neighborhood, we all participated in some good 'ol social media snubbing (defriending and unfollowing on Facebook and Twitter).
Highlight of the day: Dunkin' Donuts tweeting about the #crosscountrywifeys hashtag!!

RITAS IS SO GOOD!
Alright, to be fair, Laura said she'd leave her apartment at 9 and get to mine by 9:30ish... so we weren't THAT late. Wendell is a little slimmer this time around (aka Laura shipped a ton of stuff) so I got to bring a real suitcase this time! Woo! Anyway, after stopping at Dunkin Donuts we were on the road, and, as tradition dictates, we stopped in Leominster for a hot minute to say goodbye to my mom and sing a little bit about Johnny Appleseed. (Hi Mom!) We made our way down to the Danbury Mall in Connecticut to see Vinny first, where we took some fabulous photo booth photos and had some lunch and more Dunkin' Donuts. We got back on the road en route to Philadelphia, stopping at our favorite rest area in New Jersey -- the Vince Lombardi Service Area. I'm not sure why it's our favorite, but I think we can say that it is the Official Rest Area of #CrossCountryWifeys. And they didn't even have to pay for that sponsorship! (That being said, WHY HAS NO ONE SPONSORED US YET?!) I shouted some "Go Bruins!" Boston love to a nice fellow in a B's shirt and Sox hat in the parking lot, we bought some Twizzlers, and it was more driving. We finally got to Philly and found parking pretty easily (with a little help from a nice lady on the sidewalk who I initially thought was going to mug me in broad daylight). Alli has a cat this time -- his name is Colby and he's wicked pretty (and also a lot sassy. He tried eating more than one of our belongings). I do love those critters! Alli was, as usual, an amazing hostess and tour guide. Is there anything about Philly she doesn't know? Her & Dan took us to the South Street Diner (is there one of those in every city?) for dinner, walked us down to the water (what water? I'm not sure. Ask Alli, she knows everything), and took us for water ice (I can finally admit that it's different than Italian ice) and frozen custard (think the frosting on an ice cream cake but even more delicious). Then Laura had to pee (what else is new) so we rushed home and did a pretty solid Facebook purging session like a real, dysfunctional, overly-connected family. Sleeping on this futon was a dream, and Colby only messed with us for a little bit before letting us pass out.
OH! And Dunkin Donuts finally tweeted at us! I wonder if they've finally realized that they picked the wrong Ultimate Fan video? (PS WE SHOULD HAVE WON JUST WAIT TILL WE GET TO WISCONSIN YOU'LL SEE!)
