A few hours of hot, dusty, flat as a pancake driving north from Dallas and into Oklahoma. First time in the great state. From what I can see, OK is not really the place for us. Infrequent semi-deserted towns strung along a mostly barren, uninteresting landscape, without much of note. Sad.

We stopped for a quick lunch at Bledsoe's after discovering that the best restaurant in Atoka – Luigi’s – is closed from July 25th to August 16th. Bledsoe's was a depressing, hole-in-the-wall diner/buffet, with a semi-bizarre group of both employees and patrons. The place was also pretty dirty and gross. Starving, I had the buffet, mostly for the greasy fried chicken, while LVL got a pathetic, dried out egg (no cheese) sandwich. Eating in the south is not so good, for either of us. We’re both longing for the fresh ingredients and interesting stuff we had on the west coast. The driving was a bit more scenic there too.

A few more hours in OK before hitting the AR border. Not much to say about it.
