After a few hours of much needed post-kayak rest, we headed up over the Pali and in to Kahala for dinner with the Weiners and the Rosens. The Weiners’ home is the kind of place we aspire to have; spacious and comfortable, nice but unpretentious. A huge treat for us to be able to spend some time with them, and to have the Rosens join us made it all the more interesting. Haven’t seen the Rosens since I was 15 or 16. Both couples have been great friends to my parents for over thirty years. Wow.
The evening’s fare was wonderful, without exception. The apricot cheese was really interesting; the salad and baked asparagus dish were both very tasty. My personal fave was the garlic scalloped potatoes. Fun to hear about Corey and David Rosen, and their families; and Matt and Richie Weiner (who recently got engaged. Congrats!). Also nice to reminisce about Punahou; law school; and family get-togethers. Gail and Joel’s story about going to Munich to drive their new BMW around Germany and France was a highlight for both of us. A great way to spend our final night in Hawaii.
