The usual wolfgang puck airport food...nice healthy salad now and fried chicken tenders for later (mmm love my fried food). 3 stars cuz I was hungry and even a saltine would taste amazing (and better than airplane food...if there is such a thing)

Late...again...but no choice from Aspen now that Delta and Frontier are pulling out. Can't complain too much though, since this leg of the trip is free. Love those miles!

On route to NYC from Aspen. Good to see the flight was packed. Serenaded the whole way by SCREACHING children. Two of them. In stereo. I'm not exaggerating. Banshee's! The WHOLE flight. Thank God for earplugs!

Great Bikram yoga class with Katie in Brooklyn.
Took the NY water taxi from Brooklyn to ny. Terrible! Not recomended. The 10 minute trip took almost an hour because our captain was a pussy! He kept letting other captains cut him off.
Oh well, we had nice views of the B bridge and downtown as we sat in the harbor...waiting...waiting...waiting...getting seasick...waiting...
Good first day in the city...a little food, a little cocktail...minute shopping...an uneventful subway trip (whew!) and an awesome show.
Tried to hook up with Alzamora, but most likely brunch on Monday.

...because our captain was a pussy... I love it. I would forego a water taxi too, lol.

Mom and I went into the city and bought 1/2 price tickets at TKTS. A little secret tip...the TKTS down in South St. Seaport has no line! Even at 5:30pm! It was great! We got tickets to the show we wanted, and took a 7 minute subway ride up to Times Square where the theater is.
The show is in a small theater called the Westside. We had great seats in the center. The cast is a rotating cast, every week or so it changes. Neither Mom nor I knew any of the actresses (5 of them) but they were all superb.
The show was by Nora Efram and her daughter and was hilarious...and a total chic show. The purse scene was the best. It was definitely money well spent.

A Family Day
Morning spent with Marshal and Alisa and Gabrielle, the little copper head who looks like moms baby pictures. Breakfast and catching up.
Then off to Sands Point on Long Island.
Cousin Amy and hubby Larry live in a little shack ( a wonderful little spot) on the beach with kids Kara and Lizzy. Cousin Courtney also came and Uncle Juj along with cousin Sue that we're staying with. As always, Amy out did herself with a fantastic breakfast (bagels and lox! fresh mozz and tomatoes! WINE-ok, we brought that).
Larry kept the dogs at strict attention (by slipping them tidbits from the table) so the rest of us could dig in in peace. It was so great to catch up with everyone. Uncle Juj looks so wonderful...I know it's hard to be the last one, but he's so full of life and laughter and is as handsome as ever. I especially like his answer to Moms burning question: Do you think my mom and dad slept together before they got married?
After soaking up the amazing views from deck and living room and eating up all the food and drinking up all the wine it was time to head out to the next feast...eating our way through 3 burroughs...Saigon Cafe with Marshal and Alisa and the little monkey again.
Yep, it was a feast filled day and off to yoga tomorrow to work it away!

If you want to avoid micky d's and steak escape opt for the healthier and fresh made choices upstairs at Paradise Bakery or Wolfgang Pucks. And you can still get your fried food if you want it.

From Uncle Juj:
the brooklyn bridge is an historic landmark : the first bridge to manhattan; the first suspension bridge in the world( i think) ;many engineering innovation cocneived and successfully applied; and where caissons disease was first descibed and its cause, prophylaxis and treatment were successfull prescibed by (i beieve) a union doctor
so u see the bridge is even older than i am!
.
all of this is pbobably descibed in tourist guides or history books..
but i think brooklyn bridges' landmark status in the halpert-eisenberg history is appreciatedby only by a few of us
to access the bridges brooklyn entrance,a street aptly named the flatbush ave extension was built. it was an extensionon of flatbush ave, major north-south artery,. bisecting brooklyn, from water to water. the extension was one block long, paved with cobblestone(the original?)when we jounced over it in the late 20's and early 30s in our 24 studebaker on trips north.
as i rember it, on the west side of flatbush extension was the sperry plant where your grandpa pete got his first job after graduating ccny. altho he had an advanced degree in electrical engineering ,times were tougth, and his job was about the lowest rung on the ladder. altho there may be several versions my myth is that he did soldering on a production line.
i could have said it all in the last paragraph above but i think that knowing something about the bridge history and brooklyn geography might make the connection meaningful to u as it does for me

Great day in the city prior to our take off for France.
Mom and I got up early, Sue drove us to the train and we took the subway into SoHo. Took another Bikram class. Great teacher, Christine, just a little nazi-ish about keeping together while she is talking about the merits of blue nail polish.
Off to meet Alzamora at the High Line Park. But first, MAC and a few other stores. Have to take advantage of that no tax on clothing under $110! Don't know how the city is surviving, but people were definitely shopping!
Went to the Union Square Whole Foods to pick up some goodies for lunch. Unbelievable how they can move so many people through the lines so quickly. 40 some odd check out cashiers must have something to do with it.
Good thing we stopped there cuz that's when Mom realized she didn't have her iphone anymore. The store was so big I had to call her from the check out line to tell her to pick up one more thing. When I finally found her she was fumbling through her bag looking for her phone. After the check out, we dumped everything out of it (that purse story from Love, Loss and What I Wore haunting me) and no phone.
PANIC!!!
We're leaving for France in 9 hours and no phone.
Call the yoga studio, no answer. My guess, mom left the phone there. Mom, in true Abraham fashion, thought that some one had stolen it out of her bag.
Next yoga class was at 4:00pm so we couldn't even call them until 3:30. We went to meet Lauren at High Line and enjoy our lunch. Voila! at 3:33 the yoga teacher calls us and says she has the phone. She found it in the men's changing room...where Mom was lurking about (ok...showering cuz there were no men there that morning). WHEW!
The adventure doesn't begin until something goes wrong! BRING IT ON!
