Finally figured it out. you'r a very good writer Norman. You'r adventure has begun.

glad this thing is finally working. sounds like the memorable mishaps have already begun :) it says up top of the page here that there are photos, but i haven't been able to figure out how to view them. anyone?

I too am glad it is working. It's fun to follow your adventures. (Jon, I, too was looking for photos but now think the number refers to total items related to that post, not necessarily photos...so far I think it's just been articles).

Hi friends. We had a little bit of a hard time near the start there. For some reason all the dates got screwed up and so everything was written in 2001... I cant really see from my end if that's been resolved, but either way we're updating as were going.

oh and the pictures can only be uploaded from my phone at the moment and there arent too many on there, so we'll upload a bunch from the camaras in a few days.

WOW. SO FUN. Keep posting!!! I want pictures :P OMG. LOVE the fact that you know how to make Pho! I know what you're doing when you get home... Love you guys.

sounds like you 2 r having a blast !!! mmmm food sounds incredible .. are we enjoying the fish Sarah ? .... are we sleeping well .. too hot to cold ? .. miss you two ...all is fine here GO CANADA GO !!!

Thanks for the detailed posts - it sounds like you are having the "full deal" experience. What are you doing with your purchases? Those packs are going to be bursting at the seams when you head home. Happy trails and keep posting. Great to see your stories. Love you!

Norm and Sarah...I have just spent the last half hour reading all your 'posts' out loud to Bill who happened in the kitchen but as I read on, came and sat down next to me! :) He wants me to tell you that he can get a suit at Moores for $120...and possibly less with his superior negotiation skills :)...as for me...I want to be there, right now, with you guys!...just the beaches alone, let alone the food! Thank you SO much for sharing this in such detail with us all! It's REALLY good! :)

Hi Sarah and Norm. Greeting from Olimpic land. Sorry to hear about the elephants. Good on you for deciding on seeing them from afar. Sad but remember where you are. By the way, you guys make me so hungry when you talk about all the wonderful food you are experiencing.Funny thing, when I logged in and read Zaleski,Ohio I thought you might have had another crazy adventure but I don't think so .???? Keep up the great writing.Stay safe and healthy. Love to you both. Mom & Dave

When are we going to get a picture upload from the camera? Quit having such a good time and throw us a bone here!!!! :P

mmmmm, banana and chocolate pancakes!

Ah the Tet experience! Knowing how little Sarah drinks - the other 3 must have really indulged. Can't imagine sleeping on a boat with all that rocking following your partying - ugh! I am forwarding your posts to Mona and Chantal & Don who don't have a link organized. Everyone is loving following along on your trek. As for here - Canada's 1st GOLD on home turf - did you hear? It's been a sea of red & white and an outpouring of national pride. Go Canada! Love to both of you.

greetings travellers! Tied the first one on did you? Mental note, drink only on flat land. How were you the next day Sarah after all that cabbage? This is the true test right Norm! Thinking of you,s all the time, and enjoying your travels.Canada is up to 5 medals now! Pride is in the air.Happy Valentines Day to you, love to you both.xoxo

Hi you two. Hope you've recovered from your Tet partying!! No posts for almost a week....I hope that means you're having too much fun to write about your adventures. No news, good news. Right? Let us know if you need anything. Love you!

So relieved to see some more postings and photos ... it sounds like you had quite a trekking experience. Laos will be a refreshing change from your last week in North VietNam. We are still in Olympic fever mode here - yesterday was a stellar day for Canada (Wonderful Women's Wednesday - all medals to women). We are now up to 15 medals, 7 of them gold! Youpi!! Love and miss you guys! Happy travels.

Greetings from olympic land! Soooo good to here from you. Sorry to here about Ho-Chi-Minh. Giddy up Laos! I'll take an order of those crepes and banana cocktail please! Your description of Vang Vieng sounds a lot like Kalowna in mid summer. I bet those kittens were well taken care of while you were there, or was it like Mexico and you have to keep your distance. I truly am enjoying your pictures though cause then I can see you guys in life and know you are doing well. miss you lots, love to you both.Soke it up.

Finally had a chance to sit down and catch up on all you've posted. been too busy with the move and I don't have internet at home yet! Luckily its quiet at work today. Sounds like you guys are having the time of your lives. You'll be home so soon! Savour every moment, and take it slow!!

Hi Norm and Sarah! Wow, I just read all of your posts and what a trip you are having!! It is sometimes very difficult when you see the "seedier" side of things; people trying to rip you off etc. We never did have you over to let you know some of the things we liked best about Thailand, so here they are. If you have a chance to head north to Chiang Mi you should try to rent a moped and head into the surrounding area. We did this for a day and were able to see elephants and have lunch with the locals; it was great. The other thing we did in Chiang Mi was to go to the Cultural Centre. There, they had a show which featured traditional food and dancing. The food was amazing, and they kept re-filling the bowls. We also really liked Ko Samui - nice beaches, cheap food and friendly people. Of course, this was many years ago now (1994), and it may be different! I am really enjoying your posts and am able to travel through your eyes! Take care.

So glad to find another up-date on your travels. The cooking schools look like they are a highlight and lots of fun. We're looking forward to a Southeast Asian feast and some cooking tips after you return. Your day at the elephant conservatory sounds perfect. Here the Paralympic games have begun and the city is gearing up for more fun albeit on a smaller scale. Dad & I are going to a sledhockey game at UBC arena tonight (Japan vs Czech). All Canada games are sold out, but we'll wear our Olympic red gloves anyway. Sledgehockey looks to be quite a wild sport. It's amazing to see what human determination can overcome and accomplish. I guess you are off to Cambodia soon for the last weeks of your trip. Enjoy! Love you, Mom

If nothing else, I'm coming for the food.Phad Thai has me written all over it. It's Sunday morning, all is quiet, and I am having the time of my life checking out your photo's and scripture. Internet can be a wonderful thing!Keep up the good work guys, have fun,be safe. Looking forward to Easter Monday and more stories.Love you both xoxo

Good to here you guys are keeping your heads up! Enjoy and try to send more pics. Love to see your faces. Miss you, love to you both

We've really been enjoying your blog (reliving our own trip of 20+ years ago) It doesn't sound like things have changed much. So good to see you are having an adventurous but safe journey. What great memories you will have, especially with all of your postings and photos. Bet you can hardly believe that soon it will be time to come home. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Lots of love, Auntie Bri, Uncle Ric, Zach and Em

Again great to see your most recent posts... I guess when reading about the past and even more recent trials and tribulations of the people of Cambodia, you can understand why smiles are so hard to come by. Very sad to read what you learned of the Khmer rouge. Although we did hear of the atrocities, we weren't really aware of how bad it was. And now you're in Chau Doc and back to some of the crazies you'd seen at the start of your journey. Sounds like you are happy to be back in Vietnam and perhaps to be approaching the last segment of your voyage. You'll be home in just over a week - it's hard to believe. Continued happy and safe travels. Much love! Mom

Good to here you two are back in Vietnam! It saddens me to here about all the horrible things those poor people had to endure. My heart goes out to them. Never the less, what an experience! Enjoy and relax. You have a little more time before your journey home so savour it. We miss you a lot .Be safe. Love to you both , Mom
