We decided to save some money and stay on an island surrounding Venice. We have the beach very close by and the boat taxis go to Venice and the other islands hourly and it isn't packed with tourists here.

It had been a long while since I had swam in a large body of water and basked in the sun, but I got my fix today :) We decided to put off Venice and have a beach day because I was so anxious to be at the beach again. The beach was great and the water was warm enough to get my wimpy self to actually go in. I started to work off my tank top tan and dove into a new book. It was a great break from site seeing. I know poor me, I need a break from site seeing.

For dinner, Randy and I cooked Fettuccine Carbonara, which we had never attempted before, and it was a success!

We spread out our trip by going to a different island each day. We went to Murano, which is a small island with a canal going through it. What's unique about the island is that glass blowing is very popular and many talented artists have their shops on the island. Almost every store on the island is filled with an artist's glass pieces. We also went to a studio and saw an artist at work; he made a glass horse in a matter of seconds!

Burano is another small island and is known for the colorful houses. Every house is a different bright color, so it makes for fun pictures.

Lastly Venice was great too. We wandered the small streets and alleyways getting lost. My favorite place was Piazza San Marco where you can feed the hundreds of pigeons!
There aren't many sights to see or museums to go to on these islands, but they made for great wandering and photos.

Hi Paige & Randy, The pictures of Venice are great. It looks like you are having wonderful weather. We are looking forward to seeing you when you return home. Love, Grandma & Grandpa

The boat fares to go from island to island are crazy expensive! Don't say it came from me but it is super easy to not buy a ticket and walk right on.. We saved about €100 between us. But don't get caught because there's a fine!
