driving into Delhi I was getting really worried about what the hotel would be like, my expectations weren't high!! The fact that the word 'Paradise' was in the name wasn't really a good sign, but is is fine. The hotel is near one of the main bazaars so location is good too

we hired two tuk tuk drivers for the day so Rachel, Daz and me were in one, with Brian, Peter and Kev in the other. Our driver, Singh, was fantastic. He is was Sikh and took us to a Sikh temple. Each day the temple provides free food to 15,000+ people and he insisted that we have some lunch. It was my first curry in India and was delicious.
Our tuk tuk was starting to suffer, (it didn't sound too healthy to start with but definitely got worse) so we had a visit to the tuk tuk repair place too. 15 mins later we were all fixed and back on the road.
We then had a drive to India Gate and the Parliament buildings, really impressive and the parliament buildings were built by the Brits so had a very British feel to them.

Another different form of transport today.... the Hop On, Hop Off Bus (HOHO). We decided to give this bus a go as it means we get a good view of the city and we get AC too, result! After walking around for about an hour in 40 degrees heat, just as we were about to give up we finally tracked down the bus stop for the HOHO bus. We stopped at the Old Fort and the Mahatma Gandhi memorial, as we had done some of the other main sights yesterday we took advantage of the cool surroundings and stayed on the bus for the rest of the time. Far too hot for Scottish skin!

The Delhi metro is fab!!! It is AC that is at a perfect temperature and to top it all it has' ladies only' carriages :D
Not sure why as there were considerably more men that women but I think it is a great idea. I was on the train with Peter, Brian and Kev and I don't think they liked the segregation as much as I did. I had a lovely seat with loads of room, they were standing up in a crowded carriage. I love equality!!

The new Delhi metro was the transport of choice today... and we set off to the toilet museum which is quite a way out of the city. I admit it sounds like a strange place to go but one cool train ride and rickshaw later and we were being shown round a museum detailing the history of the loo! It was actually really interesting as they do a lot of work in the slums trying to improve the horrific conditions there and to educate children and adults on basic cleanliness.

on first impressions I really wasn't taken with Delhi, but I have loved the last three days here. Walking round you get amazing sights, sounds and smells (admittedly sometimes the smells are really BAAAAD!) Most of the people have been friendly and very helpful when trying to navigate around the city. It isn't as busy as I thought it would be, most parts are no worse then London. I was at the New Delhi train station this morning and I braced myself for madness ad crowds and discovered it was no different from Clapham Junction!
