Went white water rafting today with Bui, Andy, Kev, Dee, Brian to the Bhote Kosi river. The top section of the river was closed to rafting as there is so much water and is classed to dangerous. In the raft and two seconds later we were straight into the rapids, they must have been a grade 4 at least. It was fantastic!! Brian was nervous about coming rafting, but within two minutes we could all hear his famous laugh. We were only in the raft for about half an hour when we had a lunch stop, dal bhat, a typical Nepali dish. We thought the next part of the river would be pretty tame as we had done the most severe rapids but how wrong were we!! After Bui, Kev and Andy had a swim in the rapids we headed into a swell and four people ended up in the river... only me and Kev were left! Everyone was ok, back in the boat and another rapid later and Bui and Andy were back in the water.... this rescue took longer and Bui survived 4 whirlpools. It was a great experience, rafting in the Himalayas is definitely worth repeating.

Because we can't get into TIbet and China we have to leave the truck and our lovely driver Greg behind. We had a great night at the Everest Steak House as a farewell meal with most of the group and Greg.
Orla and me have planned this meal for a few weeks, we shared half a chateaubriand between us and it was absolutely gorgeous. The portions here are much bigger than the UK and less than half the price. Vicki you would have loved it.
Bye Bye Greg, we will miss you lots

During our stay we really hadn't done much sight seeing in Kathmandu so with the help of Narayan we visited the Monkey Temple and Durbar Square. From the Temple there are amazing views over Kathmandu, a very good day.

well after a month it is time to leave this amazing country. :( On a lucky coincidence our friends from Chitwan were in Kathmandu so we had a few drinks and a meal together. The nurses who were staying in the Mona Lisa (Chitwan Hotel)were there too. Great to see eveyrone again but sad to say goodbye. It was a very special night.

Aeroplane?

I know this is an overlanding trip but we actually had to take a flight today. We were due to go from Nepal into Tibet, China and beyond but due to issues there the border into Tibet has been closed for a while. We have already delayed our entry into Tibet by ten days to see if it would open again but the last we have heard is that it might open early August so we have to fly over into Thailand and continue our adventure. It was weird getting on the plane, it kind off felt like cheating..

Was this an extra ?do you have to pay your own flights ?

Nepal has been the most amazing country, and I was really genuinely sad to say goodbye the the amazing people we have meet since we have been here. The country is very beautiful and I am already looking forward to my return visit which hopefully will be in December this year.
