City weary
Sep 19, 2011

I didn't do much in Singapore, I am getting a little weary of cities. It looked like a fantastic city but this trip has made me realise that it is the countryside and people that I am interested in, man made buildings and monuments are often spectacular but don't fill me with awe

my sightseeing in Singapore was a trip to the famous Raffles Hotel. Fantastic place and way out of our price range to stay even one night. A few of us went and had a very refreshing (and expensive) Singapore Sling accompanied with monkey nuts. It was really good to be surrounded by luxury, if only for an hour or so.

Rachel's old MD was in town so he took us out for a night on the town. Had a really good time, spent most of the night in Clarke Quay, ate Moroccan, had some drinks in a bar called the Clinic (which was hospital themed, wheelchairs for seats) and then onto a 'Scottish' bar. The only Scottish items were whiskey and kilts on the Singaporean waiters!

we found a great food court to eat that was cheap and tasty. There were some really horrific sounding meals like intestine soup, or if that didn't appeal you could have lungs instead. I wasn't adventurous, even the thought of frog porridge didn't entice me
