Well, I made it to my nephew, Mike's house. I finally got out of Santa Rosa after a zillion errands at noon. I traveled up Hwy 101 accompanied by my GPS, Spirit. She kept informing me when I had veered off the route by saying "recalculating" and make a U-turn. You really feel like you have someone riding with you. It was hot all the way until I hit the Humbolt Bay and the fog and cool weather rolled in. Mike, his partner, Paul and I went to a fabulous Mexican restaurant downtown and stolled around the streets of old Eureka. The first picture is of Mike and I in front the the famous Carson mansion, now a private men's club. The pink house I am standing in front of is another house Carson built across the street for some woman family member. We drove back to Arcata north of Eureka after dinner to where the Mad River dumps out at the ocean. Mike and Paul are trying to stay warm and I am sitting happily on a piece of driftwood feeling so lucky to be on this trip. Tomorrow I will take my bike and travel throughout the countryside, bay, estuary and beaches. More tomorrow.
