Swimming in the Ocean
Sep 28, 2009
I'm not sure I've ever swam just for the sake of swimming, but there is a first time for everything. Kip took me out into the ocean, where we swam to a buoy a few hundred yards out. It was somehow both easier and harder than I imagined.
Easier because I could always hang out and tread water without too much trouble. Harder because I have no experience with proper swimming form, and it's not something you can easily practice for the first time while out in the ocean fighting against waves.
Check out the Meditation Center. You can drop by and wander around their small but immaculate gardens right at the top of the cliff overlooking the ocean. Very lush with cool little streams and ponds.

Awesome place for breakfast. Though plastered with oddly pro-republican graffiti, it serves lots of great local and organic food. I had some sort of yogurt, granola thing...which ended up being pretty massive.
And delicious.

My great friend Kip lives here (check out our trip to Chile and Argentina).
Sunday, we spent the day driving back from Palm Springs, listening to the Packers game on the radio, then hitting a sports bar for the Bears game. Encinitas is a cute little place right on the ocean with good beaches, which happen to be just a block away from Kip's place. I can see why he loves it so much...
