Well, for starters: a free place to stay. One of my best friend Kip who lives nearby on the coast had some great stuff to show me. Despite having vacationed in Palm Desert / Palm Springs 8 or 9 times in my life, somehow I missed a lot of the really awesome stuff.

Kip and I trekked inland and set up a base in the 113 degree heat of Palm Desert (and a free place to stay) to see a few things I've never seen before:
The Salton Sea
The Imperial Desert
Salvation Mountain

I wrote more about my trip on the Everlater Blog (http://blog.everlater.com/2009/10/just-when-you-think-youve-run-out-of-ideas) and you can see the fantastic photos that Kip posted on Everlater here: ttp://www.everlater.com/kipgerenda/salton-sea-imperial-valley-ca/salton-sea-beach-california-united-states

It's a hard thing to explain, but I was totally fascinated by Leonard Knight and the monument he's been building for 27 years out in the middle of nowhere.

To see the dedication and passion in someone for God, something that has no role in my life was definitely inspiring.
