I'm sure most adults plan trips to Denmark for many different reasons than this "adult". My big reason for going was to pay a visit to Legoland in Billund. I'm a big Lego fan (no they are not just for kids).

When packing up my apartment for this trip I realized I really do own a lot of Lego's. I have your basic sets, but I also have ones that have remote controls, ones that can be hooked up to bluetooths, and a good collection of the Star Wars series. I remember the first set of battery operated Lego's I got from my Grandmother Mary and I was to share them with my younger brother and sister. They were not that into them so I think I may have bought them out (or they just let me have them). I also remember always being really careful when I was younger to make sure that I got all the Lego's off the shag carpet in order to be sure that my dad did not step on any with his bare feet. There is just something about those little colorful bricks.

Denmark is a bit expense and since the main attraction in Billund is Legoland everything there is overpriced. So I stayed in the town of Odense and took the train in. There were a number of families that had the same plans as myself. The train ride was about 30 minutes and then we hopped on a bus that took 45 minutes and finally we arrived. I'll be honest it did feel a little weird asking for only 1 ticket (I'm sure security was alerted to the weirdo adult at the park by herself). I spent most of the day walking around and viewing the many structures made of only Lego's. This included things like shipping yards, to typical Denmark villages, to the capital building in D.C. Most of the rides in the park were suited for the kids, but I still had a great visit. Of course I paid a visit to the gift shops, which I was surprised that I did not buy a single thing. They did not have any adult size t-shirts. I did check out the sets to see if there were any must have items and there were not. Besides I have a really cool set waiting for me at home, it was a going away gift from my co-workers at my previous (and hopefully future) place of employment.

Outside the park I checked out as much of the Legoland Hotel that I could without security being called. From there I strolled past the Lego factory. I was directed by an employee to a museum of sorts that told of the history of the the Lego's, most of which I knew but some information was new to me. All in all a very enjoyable day.
