A brutal series of flights from London to Franfurt to Johannesburg to Cape Town. About 15 hours later we finally arrived. South African Airways, however, is a stellar airline. Business class has full le flat seats, awesome fod, and great movie and TV choices on our individual large screens. No trouble getting through security anywhere.

We arrived in Cape Town expecting to be transferred by helicopter to our hotel, but high winds cancelled that, so instead we were met by a driver. The city absolutely astounds. It is simply stunning. I have never seen a more beautiful city in terms of natural beauty and geographic situation. The buldings and architecture are nothing special, although the new stadium built for the World Cup is gorgeous.

About a 30 minute drive later, we arrived at the Twelve Apostles hotel, a stunning, white and blue hotel nestled between Camps Bay and the soaring Twleve Apostles mountains.

Just breathtaking location on the slopes of the craggy twleve apostles mountain range, overlooking the lovely blues and turquoise of Camps Bay. Service is worldclass. Prior to our arrival, via email, the concierge had negotiated reservations at some of the areas best restaurants. Our room was airy, huge, open, with fantastic views of both the water and the mountains. The Leopard Lounge is a gorgeous bar filled with an array of artwork depicting leopards and other of the region's famous denizens.

I wasn't crazy about the cramped, cave-like spa, but Michael had a massage and was taken to one of the treatment rooms located outdoors, up on the mountain slopes. He said it was one of the best massages he had ever had.
