It *was* the restaurant that was open near our 'hostel'. The pizza was plentiful and and delicious. We were a little tired of eating here after the second night.

2.5 hours from Zagreb through the countryside. Evidence of the war still exists in plain sight.

Bus to Split

4.5 hour ride(with a stop at a cafeteria for a break… 10 minutes after boarding). Some great views as we made our way through mountain passes to the coast.

Katja wasn't suppose to be open during the winter. Through a fluke, I'd managed to make a reservation through the one website they'd not disabled for the season. Regardless, they graciously opened up their home and let us lodge in the spare room they usually rent out during the summer. In addition, they provided us a great breakfast in their own kitchen whilst they, as a family, watched Dora the Explorer. In the harsh elements, we were very grateful to our hosts for providing us with lodging.

There are two. Most of the hotels/resorts are near the 1st one. On a bus from Zagreb, the first stop is the second entrance.

We bought a park entrance ticket on the first day… nobody ever checked our tickets.

The final day at Plitvice, with the blue skies and fresh coat of snow, was the point where I decided that I would return to Croatia during the spring to experience the park when it was green and lush. If a park could be a breathtaking during the height of winter then it must be unbelievable in the summer.
