Ljubljana, Slovenia

I wrote my book and watched the Alps go by.

And I have never been happier.

I'd just come back here. And seriously, that would be fine. Ljubljana is a great city, with an awesome laid-back atmosphere, a bike culture that I haven't experienced since Florence, and a tremendously active population. It was hard to tear myself away!

The girl at the hostel said. "So I really know my mountains, and those were great!"

Thus the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Dunia and Nadya were two sisters traveling through Eastern Europe together. The above comment was made by Dunia as she stood with her legs in tree pose - it later came out that not only was she from Colorado and living in Boulder, but we practiced yoga and the same studio. And her sister was not only a Denver resident, but had spent the past semester studying in Florence, and knew some of my favorite haunts!

So for two days, I traveled with these girls, and had a great time. But the whole thing made me very homesick for my own sister, who is also my best traveling companion.

A Slovenian couple I had been introduced to by Tanya's dad. They took me down to the Slovenian coast for dinner. I finally dipped my feet into the Adriatic Sea, dug into some delicious seafood, and had a wonderful time. And once again, I'm going to become an expat in Slovenia.
